Description
From the first sip, you’ll understand that Primo is a very special wine. Winemaker Bernardo Cabral of Herdade Pegos Claros blended a top-notch Castelão (Periquita) red wine with just a bit of Tintinha to make it interesting. The color is deep and rich, and the elegant aroma hints of black plums and ripe red fruit, along with mint, mocha, and tobacco. It is aged 12 months in the same new French oak barrels in which it was fermented. Full-bodied, with good acidity and vibrant tannins.
Serve with grilled meat, stews, and hard cheese.
“This limited production wine, in its heavy bottle, is a fine example of Castelão when it is well selected. The wine comes from old vines, is wood aged and still has plenty of potential. Drink this concentrated wine from 2021.” – Wine Enthusiast
